Dr. Nathaina Smith joined Intermountain Health to fill her need to work for a large system that is in close proximity to her home base, and she appreciates our mission and vast network of available services. Her love of problem solving is reflected in her attention to details in even the smallest procedures.

Dr. Smith grew up surrounded by medical professionals in Reidsville, North Carolina: Her father was a general surgeon and her uncle was a family practitioner.

Dr. Smith’s ability to multi-task helped her complete two master’s degrees simultaneously, which overlapped with her medical school for a month. She holds a BS in chemistry from the US Military Academy in West Point, a master of healthcare administration degree from University of Phoenix in Tempe, Arizona, and a master of public health degree from Michigan State University. She earned her DO degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Before joining Intermountain Health, Dr. Smith worked as an urgent care physician in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, where she did everything from interpreting x-rays to COVID screenings. She also served five years of active duty in the US Army and three years in the reserves. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and outdoor activities.
