Dr. Shirley Najjar (Raveendran) brings nine years of experience to her position at Intermountain Health. She enjoys being part of an organization that values the bond between patient and physician.
Dr. Najjar likes working with patients who have struggled with chronic medical issues and helping them find the one thing that makes them invest in themselves. She says her greatest satisfaction comes from seeing patients rid themselves of medications through improvements in diet and lifestyle. This includes watching diabetics get off insulin and hypertensive patients no longer needing medication.
Before joining Intermountain Health, Dr. Najjar worked as a family medicine physician at Great Lakes Bay Health Centers in Saginaw, Michigan, and as a clinical assistant professor at Central Michigan University College of Medicine. She earned her MD from Ross School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica, and did her residency in Family Medicine at Wayne State University and University of Kentucky. She also holds a BA in Biology and Biochemistry from Knox College in Illinois.
Dr. Najjar was born in India and grew up in Thailand. Her family worked for a nonprofit organization that strived to improve education, infrastructure, and access to healthcare, which gave her a passion for medicine.
