Johana grew up and attended medical school in El Salvador; however, she had to move to the United States for safety reasons. As an international student in the U.S., she could not afford to attend medical school here but, in 2017, completed her nursing degree at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. As a nurse, Johana recognized some issues that needed to be addressed at the primary care level. She went on to earn her Doctor in Nursing Practice from the same institution in 2022. She is excited to be a part of Intermountain Health’s culture of care for both its patients and associates. Johana is fluent in Spanish.
She enjoys doing anything outdoors, taking road trips, and spending time with her six dogs and her husband. In another life, Johana was meant to be a veterinarian. She even owns a 150-pound African tortoise who is 50 years old.
