Dr. Margaret “Beth” Sweeney is a New York City native with a fiery passion for helping others. It was this passion that drove her to enter medical school at the age of 50. Before that, she used her degree in theatre to act and simultaneously run her own businesses for 25 years including personal fitness training and massage therapy. Recognizing that even in mid-life medicine still thrilled her, in 2007 Dr. Sweeney officially entered medical school. Today her dream of being a physician is a reality.

Dr. Sweeney received her undergraduate degree from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts and earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Touro Nevada Medical School in Henderson, Nevada. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. At Intermountain Health, Dr. Sweeney is a family medicine provider and specializes in senior care. She feels most accomplished when she is able to give her patients the best care possible, especially if she feels she has touched someone emotionally. While she sees a wide variety of cases, she especially enjoys working with patients struggling with difficult conditions.

Patients may be surprised to learn that Dr. Sweeney worked as a professional actress for 15 years. In fact, if she were not a doctor, Dr. Sweeney would be an actress. But she would also be content working as a dog walker, massage therapist or personal trainer.

In her downtime, Dr. Sweeney pursues various hobbies including kickboxing and baking. She also enjoys spending time with her partner and her children.
